Privacy Policy

The short version: WAX does not collect, store, or transmit any of your data. All recordings stay on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers. Your voice is yours alone.

01What We Collect

Nothing. WAX does not collect any personal information, usage data, analytics, or telemetry. There is no account system, no sign-up, and no login. We have no servers that receive your data.

02How Your Data Is Stored

All recordings, transcripts, tags, summaries, and preferences are stored locally on your device using IndexedDB and localStorage, which are built-in browser storage systems. This data never leaves your device.

Audio recordings are stored as binary blobs in IndexedDB
Transcripts, tags, and metadata are stored alongside each recording
App preferences (view mode, crackle setting, sound toggle) are stored in localStorage
No data is synced to any cloud service

If you uninstall the app or clear your browser data, your recordings will be permanently deleted. WAX has no backup or recovery system.

03Third-Party Services

WAX uses two external services, neither of which receives your recordings:

Web Speech API — Used for live transcription during recording. Speech recognition is processed by your device's built-in speech engine (provided by Apple on iOS, Google on Chrome). Audio may be sent to the platform provider for processing, subject to their privacy policies. WAX does not control or access this data.
Google Fonts — Used to load the Libre Baskerville and Inter typefaces. Google may log standard web request data (IP address, browser type). No personal data is shared by WAX.

04Cookies and Tracking

WAX does not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics services, or any form of user tracking. There is no advertising and no third-party scripts beyond Google Fonts.

05Subscription and Payment

WAX Pro is an optional subscription managed through the App Store or your payment provider. WAX does not process or store any payment information. All billing is handled by Apple, Google, or Stripe, subject to their respective privacy policies.

06Children's Privacy

WAX does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since WAX collects no personal information from any user, there is no age-specific data concern. Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of any recording application.

07Data Sharing

WAX does not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties. Since no data is collected, there is nothing to share. If you use the Share feature to export a recording, that action is initiated by you and handled by your device's native sharing system.

08Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:

View any recording, transcript, or tag at any time within the app
Delete individual recordings from the Liner Notes screen
Clear all data by clearing your browser or app storage
Export or share any recording via the Share/Download feature

09Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Since WAX does not collect contact information, we cannot notify you directly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
